Installing the Printer Driver
To use this printer driver with software applications that operate with Microsoft Windows, use the following installation procedure.
NOTE
Before installation, log into Windows as an Administrator.
If a message prompting you to restart your computer is displayed when using the installer, make sure to restart your computer. If you do not restart your computer, existing drivers may not operate correctly.
If you are using the printer auto-creation mechanism in a Citrix XenApp (Presentation Server) environment, you may not be able to correctly install this driver using the Installer. If so, restart the XenApp Server PC and check the Printers folder. If any existing printer icons are no longer displayed, re-install the relevant printer drivers in the XenApp Server PC using the Add Printer Wizard in the Printers folder.
Then, before starting the Installer to install this driver, disconnect all client printers from all the ICA sessions by using the ICA Client Printer Configuration utility. After installing the driver, restart the ICA Client Printer Configuration utility and reconnect the printers.
It is recommended to use the installer for upgrading or adding printer drivers. If you install a new printer driver using the Add Printer Wizard, you must upgrade all existing printer drivers by clicking the New Driver button in the Printer properties dialog box.
If you use a SMB (NetBIOS network) printer as a shared printer on the server PC, use the Add Printer Wizard, and select "Network printer" when installing the printer driver.
For information about the installation procedures of drivers with ** after the name of the printer model in "Canon Products Supported by PCL6 Driver," refer to the "MF Driver Installation Guide."
To install using the Installer:
1. Start the installer.
Double-click the [Setup.exe] file in the appropriate folder.
2. The wizard is displayed and the user license agreement is displayed on the screen. Confirm the content of the license agreement, then click [Yes].

5. Select the check box of the driver you want to install from [Printer List] and click the [Next] button.
6. Select a [Port] from drop-down menu or by clicking the [Add Port] button. Then click the [Next] button.
7. In the next dialog box, check the installation settings, and then click the [Start] button.
8. Click the [Exit] button to finish the installation program.
You are now ready to print from any Windows software application.
NOTE
You can add a new driver without affecting existing driver if you select [Add New Printers] for step 5 If you select [Add New Printers and Update Existing Printer Drivers], all existing drivers are updated automatically when you add a new driver.
If you are using a shared printer in the Print Server (Point and Print) environment, it is necessary to install Canon Driver Information Assist Service in the server PC in order to set up the printer configuration automatically or to use the department ID management or user authentication functions.
If you are using an operating system equipped with Windows Firewall, a message which asks if you want to change the Windows Firewall setting is displayed during the installation.
If you select [Yes], Windows Firewall will be configured to unblock the connection for Canon Driver Information Assist Service, so that you can set up the printer configuration automatically or use the department ID management or user authentication functions.
If you select [No], you cannot use Canon Driver Information Assist Service.

To access from within an application:
1.Click the [Print] command to display the [Print] dialog box.
2.Select your printer name from the drop-down list box, and then click the [Properties] button.
Accessing Help Information
From the Properties dialog box, you can click the [Help] button to display the information about the printer driver.
Cautions, Limitations and Restrictions
If you print a document that has an odd number of pages as a two-sided document from an application, the application may automatically insert a blank page to bring the number of pages up to an even number. When this happens, the blank page inserted by the application is counted up in the same way as a printed page.
To register the custom paper size you want to use, access the [Document Properties] dialog box from the Printers folder with Administrator privileges, and then specify the paper size in the [Custom Paper Size Settings] dialog box which is displayed by clicking the [Custom Paper Size] button in the [Page Setup] sheet.
If you are using a USB connection with the printer to print, and cancel a print job that is currently printing from your computer using the print spooler, the printer may not return to a ready state.
In this state, you can print via USB, but not via a network. In order to be able to print from a network, cancel the print job from the control panel of the printer prior to printing.
If you are using Server Core in your Windows Server operating system, you cannot use the printer driver installer. Use the installation function of the operating system to install the printer driver.
You cannot install the driver with the installer. Use the installation options of Windows.
Some print options are not available under local environment or Windows Remote Desktop environment.
If you are using a printer that supports 2-sided printing, the default setting is 2-sided printing.
If both a printer driver (or fax driver) and a USB-compliant scanner driver are not installed, a device connected by USB is recognized as new hardware, and although the following may occur, driver operations will not be affected.
Windows Vista: A dialog box appears each time you connect the device by USB.
Windows 7/8/8.1/10: The relevant printer(s) in the [Devices and Printers] folder are in a warning state.
The driver is still operable in these states. To avoid these phenomena, install the USB-compliant scanner driver (Color Network ScanGear 2 USB). For instructions on how to install the scanner driver, see the readme file provided with the driver.
If you use this printer driver in a server based computing environment, you cannot use the printer driver on client computers using unsupported operating systems.
When creating an overlay form on one computer, you cannot specify another computer in the network as the location to save the new form file.
Certain TrueType fonts may not be printed correctly. If this occurs, you should disable the [Use Printer Fonts] setting in the [Advanced Settings] dialog box to ensure that all fonts are downloaded with the document, rather than using only those fonts that reside in the printer. The [Advanced Settings] dialog box is displayed by clicking the [Advanced Settings] button in the [Quality] sheet.
Rotated text will not be printed correctly with some applications when [TrueType Mode] is set to [Download as TrueType] or [Download as Bit Image] in the [Advanced Settings] dialog box. The [Advanced Settings] dialog box is displayed by clicking the [Advanced Settings] button in the [Quality] sheet.
Black-and-white pages may be counted as color pages, depending on data, application, or driver settings when you select [Auto [Color/B&W]] or [Color] for [Color Mode] in the [Basic Settings]/[Quality] sheet. If you want to print a document as a black-and-white job, select [Black and White] for [Color Mode].

Limitations of Specific Printer Models
If you are using a printer model that supports banner page printing, a banner page will not be printed with secured printing, store, hold, overlay printing, perfect binding, saddle stitching, or C-fold printing, or when [Hard Disk Installed] is deselected.
If you are using imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8085/8095/8105 with the optional Staple Finisher-F1 or Booklet Finisher-F1 attached, you cannot output postcards or custom paper sizes (with a height of 148.0 to 181.9 mm).
There are cases where the range of custom paper sizes that can be specified using the driver and the paper sizes that the printer can print differ. For information about custom paper sizes that can be printed, refer to the manual provided with the printer.
If you are using the iR-ADV C2020/2030, the following restrictions apply when you set [Resolution] to [1200 dpi] in the [Advanced Settings] dialog box of the [Quality] sheet:
You can only set [Staple Position] in the [Finishing] sheet to the long side of an A4 sheet.
You cannot use the [Rotate] and [Print with Mixed Paper Sizes/Orientations] settings in the [Finishing] sheet.
Depending on the function version of the printer you are using, you may not be able to use the [Copy Set Numbering] setting in the [Advanced Settings] dialog box of the [Finishing] sheet.
If you are using the iR-ADV C2020/2030 without the optional hard disk drive, you cannot use the following functions:
[Secured Print]
[Promote Print]
Depending on the printer model you are using, when you store a secured print job in the printer, other print jobs may not print. If this happens, output the secured print job. If you still cannot print the other print jobs, reprint them from the computer.
