Design of Drugs for the Treatment of Viral Diseases

Abstract:
The design of a series of anti-HIV compounds in our laboratory led to the development of the drug, Ziagen, which is now sold world-wide by Glaxo SmithKline for the treatment of AIDS. Considerations in the design and development of this drug and other antivirals will be discussed.
