Computing For This Course

  • You will need access to SAS Version 9 or higher. If you do not have access elsewhere, you will need an account on the Biostatistics UNIX network. Ask the instructor for a login and password.

  • If you are unfamiliar with the UNIX operating system and you will be using SAS, R, or S-Plus via the Biostatistics UNIX network, here is a very brief introduction to logging on to the network, creating files, and running programs.

  • If you would like to learn R under Windows (free software, I use it primarily for graphing), here is a short tutorial. To install a copy of R on your own PC, follow the instructions in the introduction.
