[My picture] [My name in Chinese]

Above to the right is my name in Chinese (don't mistake that with my picture). Because my name sometimes causes unnecessary confusion (if you don't know why, you are already confused), I also go by the name of Michael.

I received my Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the University of Washington in 2003. Prior to that I studied in Peking University in Beijing, China and got a B.S. in Microbiology (1995) and a M.S. in Biochemistry (1998). Here is a version of my CV (PDF version).

Research

My research interests are statistical genetics and genomics. In particular I'm working on developing statistical methods to find genes responsible for complex human diseases, using either family or population based approaches. I'm also interested in statistical computing and stochastic modeling of complex systems.
